Industrial scale (1, 3, 5, 7, 9) that measures the dimensional precision of bearings. It does NOT measure how good they are for skating.
Extended definition
Invented for industrial machinery. An ABEC 9 can be worse than an ABEC 5 if it's badly built for impacts. Bones invented "Skate Rated" as a more useful alternative for our use.
