Longboarding is a sister discipline of skating focused on speed and travel. It uses long, stable decks ideal for downhill, freeride and long rolls, with its own technique (hand slides, pumping, controlled drifts). It shares parts with skating (trucks, bearings) but the feel and culture are different; even so, many people get into skating through it.
